UPCOMING
Kalidoscope
Plot Premise: Ondrican prince must woo and wed Amazonian princess in order to end centuries of war between their worlds. The princess wants the wooing but not the wedding.
When I'm waiting to hear from my editor about a submission I need something to do with my time...like write. In the case of Kaleidoscope I wanted a futuristic romance that wasn't part of my Virtual Seductions series. Also, I wanted to challenge myself to make up an entire world--actually two--and language and flora and fauna and... You get the point.
One of these worlds is fairly primitive. Amazonia is a planet covered by swamps and the pests and dangers that live in them. It has little technology and few resources. Except for its beautiful women. These women are always on guard against invaders.
Ondrican has loads of technology, beautiful flora and fauna, pegagryphs, mechanical horses for transportation within its cities and real horses in the country. What it lacks are women.
The two worlds collide when Princess Kel is abducted from Amazonia and lands on Ondrican--specifically in the palace of Ondrican Prince Aren. She wants to go home. He wants sex.
Oh, he also intends to keep her.
Capitol Murder
Plot Premise: Blackmailed ghostwriter must work with cynical Secret Service Agent to save president.
I started to write this story years ago. It got tangled up in a historical I wanted to interweave with it so I dropped both ideas and went on to other things. Always intended to come back to it but... you know what they say about good intentions.
Anyway, two things brought the contemporary side of the story back to the front of my mind: The campaigns and elections of 2008; and a wonderful on-line writing course on plotting.
Jule Bettencourt is coerced into ghost writing presidential candidate's family history. Secret Service Agent C. Penn Zurahn is ordered to protect that same candidate--a man he has reason to hate.
While researching, Jule discovers a document that outlines a plot to assassinate the incoming president-elect. Penn doubts the plot is real but is compelled to investigate.
By the way, the working title of Capitol Murder sounds like something Margaret Truman would write. I'm looking for a better title. All suggestions are greatly appreciated.
